How To Measure

You will need:

  1. A tape measure – metal ones work best
  2. A piece of paper and a pencil

To fulfill your order we will need:

  1. The required WIDTH of your blind
  2. The required DROP of your blind
  3. The TYPE of MEASUREMENT you have taken – RECESS or EXACT
    (see below for an explanation of these types)

Hints:

  1. Take all your measurements in millimetres (mm) and measure to the nearest 1mm.
  2. Look out for window handles, locks and tiles that reduce the measurements you take. You don’t want your blinds to touch or catch on any of these items.
  3. The blind can be attached to the window frame, the side walls or the lower edge of the lintel above the window. This gives complete control over the positioning of the blind.

Recess or Exact?:

On ALL orders, you will be asked to specify where the blind is to be fitted.

Recess
This is the measurement required if the blind is to fit within the window recess. We will make your blind to fit the recess, all blinds will have around a 1cm adjustment on the width and 0.5cm to 1cm on the drop depending on which type of blind. This adjustment is to allow the blind to move up and down / side to side within the recess without touching the sides or bottom of the recess. You do not need to make any adjustments to the measurements you take.

Exact
This is the measurement required if you want your blind to hang outside of the window recess. We will make your blind to the exact measurements you specify on your order.

Taking measurements for a RECESS fitting blind:

  1. Measure the width, wall to wall, left to right in 3 different locations as shown in the diagram on the left. Make a note of the SHORTEST measurement as this will be the width you order.
  2. Measure the drop of the window in 3 different locations as shown in the diagram on the left. Again make a note the SHORTEST measurement as this will be the drop you order.
  3. Don’t forget to tell us that this is a RECESS measurement!
  4. For Roller blinds only please note that the actual fabric width will be your measurement less 39mm. This is for information only and does not affect what you need to do.

     Taking measurements for a EXACT fitting blind:

  1. Measure the exact WIDTH of the blind you require. This will be the width you order.
  2. Measure the exact DROP of the blind you require. This will be the drop you order.
  3. Don’t forget to tell us that this is an EXACT measurement!
  4. For Roller blinds only please note that the actual fabric width will be your measurement less 29-34mm. This is for information only and does not affect what you need to do.

Taking Measurements for a Skylight Non-Velux Blind or a Perfect Fit Venetian Blind:

  1. Measure the exact WIDTH of the glass you require the blind for. This will be the width of you order. If the Non-velux blind has beading round the glass then measure from frame to frame.
  2. Measure the exact DROP of the glass you require the blind for. This will be the drop of you order. If the Non-velux blind has beading round the glass then measure from frame to frame
